Working with us

Medefer is an innovative CQC-registered healthcare provider. We’re revolutionising the UK’s health system with our ingenious new service. Our goal is to connect patients seeking specialist care with NHS consultants in just a couple of days. That not only cuts waiting times but also delivers better patient outcomes.

We know the best healthcare experience is timely, efficient, and elective. Now, we’re asking you to join us and help us grow. Become part of the forefront of medical innovation.

Remote-first company

Medefer is a remote-first company, meaning most of our work is done online. In fact, it’s what makes us so successful. Whether you’re an NHS consultant or part of the behind-the-scenes team, you’ll get to enjoy as much time outside the office as in it. Our consultants operate on a flexible, case-based approach, selecting as many referrals as they wish. We find it’s the best way to deliver e!cient, e”ective care for patients.

Our culture

Medefer was started in 2013 by NHS staff who wanted to improve the healthcare system. We work closely with the NHS to solve problems and plan for the future.

We work hard to create a safe and supportive workplace for everyone. Staff are encouraged to speak up if they see something wrong and are committed to preventing harm. We expect nothing less when patients’ health and safety are on the line. But we know that with clear processes in place, everyone can do their job well and feel supported.

Equality, diversity &
inclusion

Here at Medefer, we value teamwork and believe in treating everyone fairly. Our team is made up of people from different backgrounds, and we work hard to make sure everyone feels included. We hold regular meetings and activities to keep everyone connected, such as:

Freedom to speak up

Just as we believe in patient choice, we also believe our employees have a right to speak up. We’ve enshrined this belief in a special policy called Freedom to Speak Up.

This policy gives staff the chance to share any concerns they have about their work. We have two FTSU Guardians who are registered with the National Guardians Office. Staff can talk to their manager, the CEO, the Independent Non-Executive Chair, or the FTSU Guardians if they need to raise an issue. We offer training every year to remind everyone of this policy and the support available. We also work with Protect, a whistleblowing charity, and the CQC to make sure our staff feel safe speaking up. Patient safety is a team activity.
