Amazing service after fighting with my gp for over a year I finally got referred to Medefer and within a few weeks I had my first appointment and now only about 6 weeks later I’m through to the final stage of my hospital referral for my surgery . The process couldn’t have been easier and communication was amazing constant checks to ensure understanding, reminders of appointments more regularly ( as someone with fibromyalgia this made a huge difference) all I can say is thank you and I will definitely be requesting to be referred to Medefer for any other medical needs

Theyve recently helped me with a referal from my gp with gastro problems. They were really supportive through out and handled everything quickly. After discharge when I raised a query with them they were quick to respond and refer me back to my consultant. A change of medication and less than a month letter I'm massively better. Thanks guys.

I used the dermatology service with Medefer for a hormonal breakout around the mouth and chin area and received an amazing service. I made the enquiry on a Monday evening, filled in the form, sent a photo, and had an online appointment by Wednesday evening. The dermatologist I saw was so wonderful! She was really sympathetic to the psychological impact of acne, was so patient, really took her time with me going through all the options, explaining everything clearly, answering all my questions and reassuring me. Medefer also take into consideration the price of the treatment and products they recommend so that its affordable as possible. This was the cheapest dermatology appointment I've ever had and I loved the convenience of it being online. For me it worked out really well.

We are designed to make specialist care faster, simpler and easier to access. Most patients don’t need to travel to hospital just to start their care, so we begin with remote reviews and consultations whenever it’s safe and appropriate. This means:

  • Quicker answers. Consultants can review referrals in days.
  • Less travel. Appointments can be done by phone or video, with tests or face-to-face care arranged locally only if needed.
  • More sustainable care. By cutting unnecessary hospital visits, we help reduce the NHS’s carbon footprint and support its target of reaching net zero by 2045.
  • Better use of NHS resources. We release in-person clinic slots for patients who really need to be there in person, including you, if required.

Our approach still gives you full access to in-person tests and hospital care when required, but starts with the most convenient, effective and environmentally responsible option.

We work with trusted national and local providers to offer tests and treatments, including an expanding network of private hospitals. If the nearest test location is more than an hour away, you can choose whether to travel or be seen at your local hospital instead.

Medefer is fully regulated and follows the same strict data protection standards as NHS hospitals.

  • Secure systems. All data is stored and shared using encrypted, UK-based systems that meet NHS and GDPR requirements.
  • Strict access controls. Only the consultants and care teams directly involved in your treatment can access your records.
  • Regular reviews. Our Chief Medical Officer and Medical Directorate oversee governance and data security, with regular engagement from the GMC and NHS Regional Medical Directors.
  • Continuous improvement. In 2024, we launched a new governance and risk management framework to strengthen transparency, security and performance across our services.
