All our consultants have non-discretionary medical indemnity insurance. This means that in the unlikely event that anything unexpected happens, you’re automatically protected by insurance that must pay valid claims—no exceptions, no small print. Medefer also carries its own corporate indemnity insurance, giving you a double layer of protection for complete peace of mind.

We’re a GMC Designated Body, directly accountable to the General Medical Council for our consultants’ fitness to practise. This means rigorous standards, regular appraisals, and revalidation – a level of oversight you won’t find with many private providers.

  • For Self-Pay patients: You can choose a consultation directly with a consultant specialist, or, for a more budget-friendly option, a consultation with our multidisciplinary team (specialist nurses, specialist registrars) always under the direct supervision of a consultant. The consultant oversees every step, reviews all notes, and importantly, the final decision on your care plan is made by the consultant
  • For NHS patients: Your care pathway may involve our multidisciplinary team (which may include specialist nurses or specialist registrars).   • For NHS patients: If you are referred to Medefer by your NHS GP, there are no costs involved. Your care will be funded by the NHS, meaning you receive the same high-quality, consultant-led service without any financial burden. We work seamlessly with the NHS to ensure you receive timely, expert care. Affordable options without compromising on quality, and free at the point of use for those referred via the NHS

After your consultation with us, we provide detailed reports to your NHS GP (with your consent), ensuring they remain at the centre of your overall healthcare journey. This seamless integration means you benefit from faster access to specialist expertise without disrupting your existing relationship with the NHS. Whether you’re self-paying or referred by your GP, you’ll receive the same exceptional standard of care from our consultant specialists.
